Microsoft was the first console manufacturer to introduce subscriptions for online play through Xbox Live Gold. The new change forever changed the gaming industry for both the better and worse. And while the golden days of Xbox Live remained in the Xbox 360 era, a slew of anti-consumer practices led to Xbox Live becoming the subscription people would buy begrudgingly. But with the new Xbox Gamepass coming along, people had their reservations about how it would work. More specifically, people were concerned about how auto-renewals would work on the system.
Auto-Renewals for Xbox Live Gold
One of the major complaints gamers have had with Microsoft’s console is that it auto-renews subscriptions like Xbox Live Gold. And with people getting the new monthly subscription for Gamepass, those would auto-renew as well. For many people, this was absurd, as their cards would automatically be charged for renewing the subscription without them accepting it. Even though they could cancel

Leading up to the release of Battlefield 1, DICE launched a campaign that, over the course of a few months, made all of the Battlefield 4 DLC available for free, for a short period of time. Whilst each DLC pack was only made available for free for a week each, once a player downloaded the DLC, they kept the rights to have the for free DLC forever.
Now that the Battlefield 1 release is just around the corner, DICE has decided to extend their generosity and release all of the previous Battlefield 4 DLC again. This time though, things are a little different.
This week will see the entire DLC offering from Battlefield 4 available online for free, all at once. In the past DICE released each DLC pack over time, but this is the first opportunity players have had to download it all at once for free.
All of the Battlefield 4 DLC packs will stay in a player's library once they have claimed the free offer. The offer extends to all platforms that support Battlefield 4. If you're

Well good news is that the plans for the backwards compatible Gears of War games are still going ahead and now that the backwards compatible patch has been released, Coalition games has mentioned exactly when the four Xbox 360 Gears of War titles will be available for the Ultimate Edition pre-orderers.
According to Microsoft, all four backwards compatible Gears of War games will be available for download from December 1 - if you already own either of the Gears of War titles on Xbox 360, you will also be able to insert the discs into your Xbox One after the November 12 backwards compatibility patch.

The latest Games with Gold promotion for August has now been announced and Major Nelson has revealed four different games that will be available throughout August for both Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Like previous months, the Xbox 360 will be getting two games and the Xbox One will be getting two different games as well. Personally I think August's lineup may be one of the best we have ever seen so far.
Firstly, on Xbox 360 we have Metro 2033 available currently and it will remain available till August 15. On August 16, Metro 2033 will be replaced with Metro Last Light. Metro Last Light is a direct sequel of Metro 2033 so you'll be able to play through both games this month in order.
Each Metro game is a post apocalyptic themed first person shooter. As the title of the game would suggest, the majority of both games takes place inside the Metro system underneath Moscow.
The great deals are available on the Xbox One as well. Throughout the entirety of August, Metal

There may be different deals depending on your region, but there are major sales going in the United Kingdom and the United States right now.
On top of the great digital sales, which will be held throughout the week, there is a brand new special trade-in offer that will allow Xbox 360 owners to trade in their console with a 250GB hard drive for a $125 off coupon for an Xbox One at Gamestop.

Over on the Xbox 360 Gears of War Judgement and Terraria are available for free this month. Usually only three games are available each month through the Games with Gold program but this month five games are up for grabs as a way of celebrating the Xbox's most recent success.

This week Xbox Live went down across the world and players were having trouble with connecting to the online service for a few hours. Whilst Microsoft did not explain what the issue was, a hacker group has already claimed that they were responsible for the shutdown.
Last year Microsoft dealt with a large hacking problem around Christmas time and it stopped a lot of people from connecting to the Xbox Live servers for a few days. Whilst the latest attack was no way near as severe, it still shows that Microsoft's servers are still vulnerable to attack and this is causing a disruption to the service Microsoft provides to Xbox players.
The hacker group claiming responsibility for the latest hacker attack is named TeamBudyBear and they have made statements on their Twitter to explain the attack.
"We're doing these attacks to show everyone how bad big company's care about security. We as teenagers know how to fix their servers. Pathetic."
Whilst TeamBudyBear are not
